Obituary

Bernice "Bee" Kasparian, age 100, passed away on June 6, 2026 with her grandchildren at her bedside.

Bernice was born on January 11, 1926 in Chicago to Abraham and Verkin Dagdigian. Abraham and Verkin experienced multiple losses in the 11 years between their older daughter Betty and Bee. The story goes that the doctor said, "We're going to take care of this one" and Bee was the only one who was born at the hospital. While in Ryerson Elementary, Bee met her lifelong best friend Anne Gaimbrone, whose friendship spanned 90 years. After graduating from Marshall High School, Bee started working at the Federal Reserve.

Active in the Armenian Church and its choir and the Armenian Youth Federation, she met and became good friends with Arpie Chaderjian (nee Kasparian). Arpie introduced Bee to her brother, Jacob (or Jack as he was known then) Kasparian, when he came home from service after World War II. Bee would affectionately refer to him as “Jay” in their time together. After dating for two years, Bee and Jay married on June 13, 1948.

Bee and Jay welcomed three children, Armen, Janice, and Jack. In 1964, the family moved from their two-flat on Mayfield in Chicago to the new house they built in Addison. In their new subdivision, they were only blocks away from Jay’s sisters and their husbands, Arpie and Aram Chaderjian, and Sona and Al Klein. The three families were incredibly close. Bee, with her husband and her in-laws, was active in the church, participating in the Cultural Bazaar held at Navy Pier, and various dances and dinners. During their retirement years, the three couples became world travelers together, visiting countries throughout Europe as well as Egypt, Russia, and China. They often spent long evenings playing pinochle with friends, rotating from house to house. Bee was a life long crafter and gardener, hobbies she shared with her daughter. Her happy place was her home and loved having family and friends visit.

Devoted wife to her late husband of 67 years Jacob Kasparian. Loving mother to her late son Armen Kasparian, her late daughter Janice (John) Loverher, and son Jack. Doting grandma to her grandchildren Allison (Chris) Gunderson, Jacob (Erin) Loverher, Hilary (the late Alec) Naffziger and Joel Loverher. Cherished great-grandma to her great children Robby, Izzy, Max, Clara, and Eloise. Cherished aunt to several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are to gather for the Memorial Visitation on Saturday, June 20, 2026 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Humes Funeral Home, 320 W. Lake Street, Addison, IL 60101.
