Dennis J. Buchanan, 80, of Lombard, passed away on September 20, 2026. Born in Chicago, IL on February 17, 1946 to Edward and Irene Buchanan.

Dennis was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and collector of sports and Hollywood memorabilia. He greatly enjoyed traveling, trying new food, and gambling; especially in Las Vegas, New Orleans, and Punta Gorda, Florida. He was a dedicated family man who would do anything for them. Above all else, he proudly held the title of "grandfather" to his grandson, Austin. 

He is survived by those who loved him dearly, his wife, Joyce; children, Jeffrey (Vicky) Buchanan, Tracy (Rob) Halligan; and grandson, Austin Halligan.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. through 3:00 p.m. at Humes Funeral Home, 320 W. Lake St, Addison, IL 60101 (2 Mi. W. of Rt. 83, 2 mi. E. of Rt. 53). Memorial service to take place at 3:00 p.m. Luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial donations to the American Cancer Society.
