Francis Lewis Camp

Francis Lewis Camp, Jr. was born on April 24, 1956 and left us suddenly on November 11, 2016. Frank (Frankie) grew up in Addison, IL and graduated from Addison Trail High School in 1974 where he competed in gymnastics and took 2nd in state on the Trampoline. From an early age, Frank walked the aisles of BetterBilt. He learned the ins and outs of machines at the feet of the talented mechanics employed at "the Shop". Starting with grade school, he would go to the Shop every day after school and soon became known for his abilities to navigate the mechanics of virtually everything. He excelled in fixing and maneuvering contraptions of all conceivable types. He excelled in mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatics, electrical, and more. He could fix anything! He contributed significantly to the family business, Better Bilt Products, for much of his life. His father said of Frank, "If I had his talent, I'd be rich." Frank enjoyed his extended family and appreciated the annual family get together with the Decatur cousins. Frank was an avid outdoorsman and nature enthusiast. He and Margaret spent many weeks in the great outdoors hiking, camping, and snowmobiling. His knowledge of plants and herbs amazed all who knew him. One of his favorite activities with his Decatur cousins was the annual mushroom hunt. He is survived by his soulmate, Margaret Brandlein, sisters Susan (Camp) Fiello (Michael) and Toni Camp (Frank), his brothers Harry Camp (Mary), Steven Camp (Kate), Scott Camp and Timothy Camp (Jill), along with myriad nieces and nephews. Due to his love of nature, the family requests donations be made in his name to the National Parks Service in lieu of flowers. (www.nps.gov/getinvolved/donate.htm) Per Frank's wishes, his ashes will be spread on a mountain in Colorado. Visitation Friday November 18th, 2016 11-3pm. Memorial service 2 pm.
