Irene H. Cook

Irene H. Cook (nee Roeske), 103, peacefully went to be with the Lord on December 13, 2016. Irene was born on June 7, 1913, on the north side of Chicago, and spent her youth and early married years there. Irene was the beloved wife of the late Harry; mother of Harry (the late Ileane), Joan (the late Pete) Egan, and Carole (George) Warbritton. She was the grandmother of Kathi (Tom) Reed, Sandy (Ed) Valesh, Kevin (Melanie Javens) Grundy, Deena (Jeff Marcinkowski) Kindahl, Peter (Kim) Egan Jr., Vicki Cook, Steven Cook, Teri (Jeff) Gabriel, David Warbritton and Lisa Warbritton. She was the great-grandmother of 23: the great-great-grandmother of 18; and the great-great-great-grandmother of 2. She was the beloved aunt of many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her 17 brothers and sisters, her grandchildren Robin (the late John) Sorrentino and Mark Grundy, and many nieces and nephews. Irene and Alice, her lifelong friend of 97 years, were celebrated in 2013 at 100 years of age on the Steve Harvey Show. "Irene and Alice" survives on U- Tube. Visitation will be Friday, December 16, 2016, 3 to 8 p.m. at Humes Funeral Home, 320 W. Lake St. (two miles west of Route 83, two miles east of Route 53), Addison, IL. On Saturday, December 17, 2016, prayers will begin at 9:15 a.m. at Humes Funeral Home, and proceed to Church of the Holy Ghost, 254 N. Wood Dale Rd., Wood Dale, IL for a 10 a.m. funeral Mass. Interment private at Queen of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Alexian Brothers Hospice Residence, 901 Martha St., Elk Grove Village, IL 60007.
