It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James “Jim” Robert Nemecek Sr. of Addison, who left us on August 2, 2025, at the age of 80. Beloved husband of Marilyn nee Peterson. Loving father of Jim Jr. (Michelle) Nemecek and Tracy (Joe) Buchholz. Dearest grandfather of Justin (Sachi), Jacob, Jared and Makayla. Cherished brother of the late Chuck (Marilyn) Nemecek. Dear brother-in-law of Laverne (the late Nick) Nardella and Kathy Peterson. Fond uncle to many.
James was a devoted family man who cherished every moment spent with his loved ones. James had a vibrant personality and a wide range of passions. He was an avid bowler who proudly achieved a perfect 300 game, a testament to his skill and dedication. A true Chicago sports fan, he was a diehard supporter of the Bears and Blackhawks. James also enjoyed the simple thrill of playing the lottery, always hopeful for a big win.
A proud Army veteran, James served his country in Germany during the Vietnam War. His service was a point of pride, reflecting his sense of duty and commitment. James will be remembered for his loving nature, his sense of humor, and the unwavering love he had for his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Visitation Sunday, August 10, 2025, from 3-7 PM at Humes Funeral Home, 320 W. Lake St., Addison (2 Mi. W. of Rt. 83, 2 Mi. E. of Rt. 53). Meet at St. Philip the Apostle Parish, 1223 W. Holtz, Addison Monday, August 11, 2025 for Mass at 10 AM. Interment Assumption Cemetery, Wheaton.
