Judith L. Harshbarger (née Scallon), born October 28, 1950, of Addison, Illinois, passed away on September 10, 2025.
Judy, as she was known by her loved ones, was the devoted wife of John for over fifty years, and the loving mother of Joy (Matt) Striggow. She was the daughter of the late Robert Scallon and the late LaVerne (Charles) Luebker. Sister of Lynnda Scallon, the late Melodie (Jim) Olson, the late Robert Scallon, the late Thomas Scallon, Betsy (Keith) Erickson, Mary Keistler, Bill Luebker, Gail Predan, Jeff (Diann) Luebker, and the late Charles Luebker Jr. She was affectionately known as “Aunt Judy” to many cherished nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
Her family was her world, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Yet her circle of love stretched far beyond. Her treasured “Bunco Babes” of more than 20 years, her “Hallmark girls”, close friends, and truly everyone she encountered were touched by her warmth and genuine kindness.
To know Judy was to feel loved. She lived with an open heart, giving of herself in countless ways, through thoughtful cards, meaningful gifts, listening ears, and a generosity of spirit that never wavered. She carried others’ joys and struggles as if they were her own, and in her presence, everyone felt seen, valued, and cared for.
Her legacy is one of love lived out loud, selfless, steadfast, and inspiring. Those who had the gift of knowing her carry that love forward, honoring her not just in memory but in the way they live and love others.
