With deep love and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Judith "Judy" Kay Marquardt (née Hodgson) on 05/28/2026. Judy was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Cole Marquardt of Lombard, IL. Judy was a devoted mother to Angela Kay Humes of Chicago, IL, Heidi Lyn Humes of East Hampton, NY, Scott Roger Marquardt of Wheaton, IL and Jerry Richard Marquardt of Naperville, IL. Her favorite role, by far, was being the beloved Grandmother of Dale Savannah Brown, Cassidy Cay Brown, Oscar Emilio Humes Mettler, Alexander Jerome Marquardt, Andrew Douglas Marquardt, Julia Diane Marquardt and Lauren Rachel Marquardt. 

Judy had a generous and kind soul and made a friend wherever she went. She graduated from Galesburg High School in 1963 and from Augustana as a Registered Nurse in 1965. Soon thereafter, Judy obtained her bachelor's degree as a Nurse Practitioner, and in 1975, graduated from one of the first Nurse Practitioner Master's degree programs at University of Illinois, Chicago. Judy loved working as Director of Nursing in the oncology unit at Hines Veteran's Administration ("VA") Hospital, in Hines, IL. She worked with the Director of the VA to establish and operate its hospice program and worked tirelessly as nurse practitioner in the hospice unit for who she lovingly referred to as "her veterans”. Judy also excelled as a real estate agent, broker, and appraiser. She loved throwing parties, dancing, traveling and gardening and was a voracious reader. Judy will be remembered for her warmth, strength, and the generosity of her soul. She was a loyal and true friend and lovingly selfless - always more concerned about the health of her family and friends than her own. 

A private celebration of her life will be held in her favorite place, Bailey’s Harbor, WI.
