Mara Peros, 93, of Addison, passed away on October 27, 2026. She was born in Diklo, Zadar, Croatia to Boze and Ivana (Pavich) Grancarich. In 1961, she emigrated to the United States with her husband, Ive, and two sons, Benko and Mirko. A devout Catholic, she became a member of St. Jerome Croatian Catholic Church in 1961. She later moved with her family to San Pedro, California where she lived among her Croatian Community and was a parishioner of Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church. In 2011, after moving to Addison, she became a member of St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church. Above all else, Mara was a proud mother, and taking care of her family was her priority.

Mara is survived by her daughter, Mira (William) Schmidle; godson, Dino Peros; sister, Milka Matesic; niece, Tanja Matesic; nephew, Marin (Dalida) Matesic; great niece and nephew, Marina Matesic and Dario Matesic; and many more nieces and nephews from the Peros, Baresic, Markesic families. 

She is predeceased by her husband of 41 years, Ive; her sons, Benko Peros and Mirko Peros; siblings Ana and Ive; and brother-in-law, Veljko Matesic.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, from 3:00 to 8:00 PM at Humes Funeral Home, 320 W. Lake St, Addison, IL 60101 (2 mi. W. of Rt. 83, 2 mi. E. of Rt. 53). Funeral service on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at 10:30 AM at St. Jerome Croatian Catholic Church, 2823 S Princeton Ave, Chicago, IL 60616. Interment will take place in California.
