Marian Riske Dahldorf, age 94, of Los Angeles, California, died in Los Angeles on April 26, 2025.
She was born in Chicago in 1931 to Herbert and Josephine (Anzalone) Riske. Marian married Ralph K. Dahldorf in 1952 and welcomed children Claudia in 1953 and John in 1956. The family moved to Addison, Illinois, in 1959. While living there, she became a Girl Scout leader and trainer and a Cub Scout den mother. She worked as a children’s librarian at Addison Public Library and as a school librarian at a Wood Dale elementary school. Marian later worked as a statistician for the advertising director at McMaster-Carr in Elmhurst, Illinois, and retired from there in 1996.
Marian was active in the Addison Historical Society, Addison Art Guild and the Women’s Club of Addison. Marian regularly attended the Lyric Opera of Chicago and supported it through its local opera study chapter. She traveled extensively and visited museums around the country through the West Suburban Art Society travel programs. Marian moved to Hollenbeck-Palms in 2017.
Marian was preceded in death by her husband, parents and her sister Antoinette Caruso, and is survived by her daughter Claudia (J. Stuart Fishler) and son John (Rebecca); four grandchildren Claire, Peter, Jessica, Jake; and four great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 9, 2025, at 10:30 AM at St Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 1233 W. Holtz, Addison, and committal will be at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside.
