Peter Joseph Mayer

Peter Joseph Mayer went to his Lord on Friday, January 12, 2018. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Marilyn, his brother William (Patricia) Mayer, daughters Marianne Mayer and Rosemarie Martin (Mark), and son, Jon Mayer (Pam Smith). He was a devoted grandfather to his grandsons Brett, Eric and Randy Martin and Josh Opl. He was a dear uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Emily Mayer, sister Sr. Rosemary Mayer O.S.M, and brother Joseph Mayer. Peter was born in Chicago on October 25, 1926, he grew up within a block from Wrigley Field and his beloved Cubs. He served in the Pacific theatre in the U.S. Navy during World War II and after the war he completed his engineering degree at the University of Illinois. He married Marilyn Kissel on August 25, 1962. Peter was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend to many.The visitation will be at Humes Funeral Home in Addison, IL on Friday, January 19, from 3:00 to 9:00 pm. Funeral services will be at Humes on Saturday, January 20 at 10:30 with Interment at Queen of Heaven.
