Rosa Polak

Rosa Polak, age 81, a 52 year resident of Addison, IL, passed away peacefully in her sleep shortly after midnight on October 5, 2016. Rosa, beloved wife, preceded in death by her eldest son, Alex Polak, Jr. (2007), is survived by her husband of 57 years, Alexander Polak, Sr., her sons Robert (Christine) Polak and Brian (Laurie) Polak, and her grandchildren Steven and Sara Polak and Sean and Eric Dwyer. Rosa was dedicated to and adored her family never missing a birthday, anniversary, or special occasion. She will be deeply missed but the many fond memories she created will live on.Rosa was well known throughout the Addison community. She dedicated 30 years of her life working as Addison's Lincoln Elementary School librarian helping shape the literary lives of thousands of children over her tenure. Also throughout those years she was highly active in the school's PTA, worked as a "Room Mother" assisting teachers for special events, and was a "Lunch Lady" supervising children at both lunch and recess. She also volunteered countless hours with the local Cub Scouts helping with pack meetings and chaperoning of outings. In her later years she was highly active in the Addison senior citizens' group and volunteered for over a decade with the Addison Police Department as a citizen liaison in their ACAP program. Her involvement in so many aspects of the community touched countless lives for which she will always be remembered.A visitation and memorial will take place at Humes Funeral Home, 320 W. Lake St., Addison, on Thursday, October 6, 2016, from 2:00pm to 7:00pm with a short service at 6pm. All family and friends are invited to share in remembering her at this time.
