Ruth Iris Bastian

Ruth Iris Bastian nee Horky, 84 of Carlinville, IL. Beloved wife of the late Eugene. Loving mother of John (Sherry) Stoeber. Cherished grandmother of Sandy (Andy) Trimarco and Chris (Michelle) Sikorski. Dearest great grandmother of Connor, Cain, Brooke and Lincoln. Visitation Tuesday, 6-8 PM with Funeral Service at 7 PM at Humes Funeral Home, 320 W. Lake St., Addison (2 Mi. W. of Rt. 83, 2 Mi. E. of Rt. 53). Private burial of ashes with her late husband Eugene at the Isanti Union Cemetery in Isanti, Minnesota at a later date. The family requests no flowers or donations, please.

Ruth I. Bastian died at Beacon Hill in Lombard, Illinois at 3:45 PM on January 19, 2020. Ruth was the last of her growing up family which included her parents Joseph and Emma Horky and siblings JoAnn Horowitz, Raymond Horky, Elsie McCormick and Jill Mari Horky.

In spite of a few negatives in her life, a positive attitude changed those lessons in life to learning experiences. Her marriage to Eugene Bastian was worthy of a novel. The ups and downs challenged her optimism. Her time with him brought her to Montana where she learned to hunt and fish and other experiences.

She graduated from Carlinsville High School in 1953, Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1956 and Barnes Hospital School of Anesthesia in 1968.

Her son, John. Gave her other experiences, mostly good. He also gave her another son, his high school friend, Mike Anderson.

What a good life she has had.
