Vera Curtis 84, Elmwood Park, IL
Loving wife, sister, aunt and friend passed away peacefully in her home on May 25, 2025. Vera was preceded in passing by her husband, Robert Curtis, her Parents Pavlo and Anna Lutarewych, brother Anatoly Lutarewych ( Anna) and sister Lydia Bogdarshewskij (Anatolij). Vera is survived by her nieces and nephews, Alex Bogdaschewski (Donna) sons, Eric and Todd, Victor Smith, Michael (Barbara) Lutarewych, sons Tony, Daniel (Lindsey), Sonia Lutarewych, Katherine Lutarewych, Steven (Laura) Lutarewych, Atia, Asher and Ayla.
Vera was born in Ukraine on February 2, 1941. She immigrated to the United states in 1956 with her family when she was 14 years old. As a young girl she studied drafting which led her into wide range of interesting jobs from designing some of the first mechanical stapling devices used in surgery with American Hospital /V Mueller, design and graphic for Totes, where she help design the color schemes for the Totes rain scarf line and finally Motorola Corp. where she joined the engineering team as the only women on her team. Her group at Motorola was instrumental in developing the first cell towers to support the cellular networks we all enjoy and depend on today. Vera made her mark at Motorola when two of her designs were granted patents with the US patent office.
In 1969, Vera married Robert Curtis, who was an interior designer who helped decorate her first apartment. Robert introduced Vera into the world of art and antiques. Together they traveled the US and the world. In addition to her art and antiquities, Vera enjoyed gardening and spent hours developing her English style garden.
Vera passed away peacefully in her home overlooking her garden.
